Blog Activity package in the nature of the Zeevang

22 October 2021 - Kim Tol

Nowadays the Zeevang is a region to which the villages; Beets, Etersheim, Hobrede, Kwadijk, Middelie, Oosthuizen, Schardam and Warder belong. This region is also part of the Waterland region, although it is not originally part of it. De Zeevang is also part of the municipality of Edam/Volendam.

Until the 13th century, The Zeevang was literally caught by the sea. After the exclusion of the sea, a structure of klong, narrow grasslands, wide ditches and ribbon villages arose on and near the dikes. This form of nature has ensured that various bird species have found their home here. For the bird watchers among us, the Zeevang is an excellent area for bird watching.

The nature of the Zeevang is also perfect for various arrangements that have been devised by local entrepreneurs from the region. A beautiful piece of nature as this should not go unnoticed. How nice is it to combine this with a number of fun activities for children and family? That is exactly what these entrepreneurs wanted to achieve. In this blog I will tell you more about these arrangements and the associated local companies.

The farmer’s golf is only open from June 15 until November the 1st. If you are thinking what is farmer’s golf? Read the text below for an explanation of this fun game.

Farmer’s golf is a recreational variation on the classic sport of golf. The playing area, also called the green, is not a flat grass field, but consists of one or more meadows. The club is a wooden handle with a solid clog attached to it. The hole is a dug-in bucket with a flag with a number on it. The crue ball is made of leather and is about 16 cm in diameter wide. No special clothing is needed for farmer’s golf, but old shoes or boots are recommended.

Cycle route including booklet, farmer’s golf, coffee and cake costs: €11,50 p.p.

For groups of at least twelve people, lunch at the mill is 12,50 p.p. For smaller groups, the price applies on request at the visitor center De Breek.
